Every Friday through January 1, 2027, Here’s Our Deal is giving people the opportunity to create an eligible case for FREE.
When someone have been mistreated by police, a government agency, or another public authority, deciding what to do next can already feel overwhelming.
Financial difficulties should not be another reason to give up.
At Here’s Our Deal, we believe ordinary citizens should have a meaningful opportunity to document what happened, organize their evidence, understand the people and agencies involved, and take serious steps toward accountability.
That is why we created FREE FRIDAY.
What Is Free Friday?
Every Friday through January 1, 2027, eligible individuals can create a case with Here’s Our Deal at no cost.
The purpose is simple:
To remove the initial financial barrier that may prevent someone from taking action after experiencing government misconduct or a civil-rights violation.
Our team includes legal-support professionals, civil-rights researchers, complaint preparation specialists, documentation experts, and settlement negotiators.
We help organize facts, structure evidence, identify important records and parties, and prepare professional materials that can help move a matter forward with clarity, organization, and seriousness.
Our work is focused on helping people pursue accountability and fair compensation, including through out of court resolutions, settlement negotiations, and litigation supported settlement processes.
Why We Created Free Friday
For many people, the decision not to pursue a legitimate complaint has nothing to do with whether something serious happened.
Sometimes, they simply cannot afford to get started.
Research from the Legal Services Corporation illustrates how significant this problem can be. Its national Justice Gap study found that low-income Americans received no or insufficient legal help for 92% of their substantial civil legal problems. Among people who did not seek legal help for one or more of those problems, 46% cited concerns about cost as one of the reasons.
We don't believe a person's financial situation should automatically determine whether government misconduct gets documented, reviewed, challenged, or brought to the attention of the people responsible.
Accountability should not depend entirely on someone's ability to pay.
Free Friday is one way we can help.
Who Is Free Friday for?
Free Friday is for people who have experienced misconduct involving a government agency or government official, including circumstances involving:
- Unlawful arrest or detention
- Excessive force
- Unreasonable search or seizure
- Retaliation for protected speech
- First Amendment violations
- Disability-related discrimination or failures to accommodate
- Government abuse of authority
- Police misconduct
- Wrongful treatment while detained
- Other civil-rights violations or government misconduct
Every situation is different. Creating a case does not mean that a legal violation has necessarily occurred or that compensation will ultimately be recovered.
It gives us an opportunity to look at what happened, organize the available information, and determine what potential next steps may exist.
Don't Assume It Is Too Late
One of the most important considerations in any claim is time.
Different claims can have very different statutes of limitations, notice requirements, administrative deadlines, and procedural rules. For example, federal civil-rights claims under 42 U.S.C. §1983 generally use the applicable state's personal injury limitations period, while claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act generally have a two-year deadline for presenting a claim to the appropriate federal agency.
That means you should not assume that you have plenty of time and you also should not automatically assume that your case is too old.
If you're unsure, submit the information as soon as possible.
Free Friday is available only for matters that have not already passed the applicable statute of limitations or other controlling deadline, subject to our review.
What Happens After You Create Your Case?
Depending on the circumstances, our team will help organize information such as:
Your incident
What happened, when it happened, where it occurred, and the events leading up to and following the incident.
The people involved
Officers, government employees, witnesses, supervisors, agencies, and other relevant parties.
Your evidence
Videos, photographs, body camera footage, police reports, medical records, witness statements, court documents, communications, and other available materials.
Records that may still need to be obtained
This may include identifying records that could be requested from government agencies or other appropriate sources.
The harm you experienced
Physical injuries, medical expenses, lost income, property damage, emotional impact, reputational harm, and other relevant consequences.
Potential accountability steps
Depending on the circumstances, this may involve preparing or organizing materials related to public records requests, preservation notices, administrative or Internal Affairs complaints, claim notices, settlement demands, negotiations, or materials that can support further legal review.
Our goal is to take a situation that consist of scattered documents, videos, memories, messages, and records and turn it into a clear, organized, professionally structured case file.
Seeking Accountability Can Create Change
Government institutions exercise significant authority over ordinary citizens.
With that authority should come accountability.
When legitimate complaints are carefully documented and pursued, they can do more than address what happened to one individual. They can bring attention to questionable practices, failures in training, inadequate supervision, improper policies, repeated misconduct, and other problems that may otherwise remain hidden.
That is part of why Here’s Our Deal exists.
We want citizens to have a practical way to stand up and say:
This happened. Here is the evidence. Here is the harm it caused. And it deserves to be taken seriously.
You May Also Be Entitled to Compensation
Accountability is important, but misconduct can also have very real consequences.
People may experience injuries, medical bills, lost wages, damage to property, emotional distress, loss of liberty, reputational harm, and other losses.
Depending on the facts, applicable law, available evidence, responsible parties, and procedural requirements, compensation may potentially be available.
No organization can responsibly promise that a particular case will result in compensation.
What we can do is help people document what happened, build a clearer record, and pursue appropriate avenues for accountability and resolution.

Start your case this Friday for FREE.
Free Friday applies to eligible case creation on Fridays through January 1, 2027. Eligibility requirements apply. Matters that are already barred by an applicable statute of limitations or other controlling deadline may not qualify. Creating a case does not establish that a legal violation occurred, does not create a guarantee of acceptance or representation, and does not guarantee a settlement, recovery, or compensation. Different claims and jurisdictions may have different deadlines and procedural requirements.
